Food Pets Die For: Shocking Facts About Pet Food by Ann M. Martin
This book goes behind the scenes of the pet food industry and uncovers the unsavory ingredients used for most commercial pet food: diseased and contaminated meat, moldy grain, and rancid fat. For seven years, Ann M. Martin investigated the pet food and rendering industries to uncover what goes into our pets food. Shockingly, few government regulations exist. In the rendering process, no testing is conducted to detect drugs, pathogens, heavy metals, or pesticides. There are now serious concerns that our companion animals are at risk of dying from “mad cow” disease and various forms of cancer from foods rendered not only from slaughterhouses, but road kill and even euthanized dogs and cats.
