TICA Cat Show

Now that I am traveling a bit more with my cats to trade shows I am really seeing something firsthand. Something I have always known really, but like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I saw it recently at the TICA International cat show in Portland. People came to the show just to see cats, cats and more cats. Most of the exhibitors can’t allow just anyone to handle their cats for various and good reasons. However at our booth we have cats they can pick up and handle. We usually have them dressed up, feathers in their cap and all.

I think they love the attention and people get a big kick out of it. But what I noticed recently was an almost transparency in people while they were holding one of my cats. There was an elderly woman in a wheelchair and a 6 year old girl; but the look was the same. There was serenity and calmness that could be seen on their faces, and it looked very similar. I saw firsthand the power of the cat. People were for just a few moments taken to a place away from stress, worries, and transformed really. It was as if they had a glow about them. The woman in the wheelchair had been looking forward to coming to this show accompanied by her daughter. When they left the daughter looked back at me and said “Thank you.” She knew it made her Mother’s day, and I am glad I had a part in that.

Why we love cats

I think we can learn a lot from cats. They don’t have judgement.. They live in the moment and are present. And they love unconditionally.

I wanted to thank you for making our Nora look and feel so good. As I am typing this she is sitting on a shelf she hasn't been able to jump to in a long time. She is grooming herself again and getting around so much better. Thanks again, Anna Drake
